[...] Deployment Monday, 5.23.05 | Life, Events, Military, Me this might be it folks. yes, you heard right. iraq deployment got sent down range from the heavies up at our major unit and our tiny section is taking a huge hit according to the list. seems that out of the 16 people that we have ( this is minusing those that are leaving or not with us ) we are going to lose 10. amoung the mass is myself. this wouldn’t be the first time i was listed in a ocean of names that are suppose to leave for the sandbox, but this time it seems serious and the departure date is closer then the others. the precious ones that have been chosen scurry to take leave and spend time with their families…but me? what am I to do? One, I don’t have enough funds to aquire a ticket all the way home and back from the distant island, and Two, I want to be a bit more independent. now yes, i know…even the oldest, most, independent person would take time out of their busy military life to go see those who raise and cared for them while in their kinder ages. its not that i don’t feel obligated to see my parents and loved ones, but i just feel that they will be there when i get back, and i will get back. in any case, i’ve have made my mind up on the subject and don’t plan on changing it. i’ll live out my last, combat free, time here with my new found love and joy… Hiromi. how strong is our relationship some ask…is it strong enough to go thru a 10+ month wait? you just met her 7 months ago…tru. but put it this way, the first and last thought that goes through my mind is of her…and while were on the subject…anyone got tips on a good place to shop for engagement/wedding rings? smile. well, more will come as soon as i find out more details on the matter, but for all you readers, buy this paperback of history, “The Girl With The White Flag” by Tomiko Higa. bye. [...]
