Our Brave Marines
The bravery of our fellow US Marines…

During hostile action in Iraq, a Marine is hit and wounded and this brave Marine comes to his aid while taking hostile fire.

A second Marine comes to the rescue and is struck by an enemy round.

In the attempt to evacuate the wounded Marine, the Marine to the left is fatally struck again by enemy fire and falls to the ground.

This sad photo shows two of our brave brothers lying motionless on the ground. The Marine on the right will survive, but sadly the Marine on the left who came to rescue his fellow Marine would not survive.
I can only imagine how their friends and family feel…thats some sad shit. I remember the first time i knew a Marine that I knew died in combat. You don’t know how it feels til it happens. Nothing can stop it either. Gosh…I hope I never feel that way again…

Ramrod: your comment “that’s what you get for goin to war.” is ignorant and callus. The Marines fighting in Iraq didn’t go to war for the hell of it. I don’t know if you are American or not, but the Marine who died in that series of pictures died fighting for America - so you can go to the mall without fear that a suicide bomber is going to blow you up, or can go to the movies, go anywhere in America without fear of terrorism. And if you’re not American - the defeat of thug extremist terrorists will benefit the entire world. He and all service men and women in Iraq are American Heroes and whether you agree with the war or not, they deserve more respect than such an off hand comment. He gave his LIFE for all of us – and you say “that’s what he gets”?
Think before you speak.

Regardless of one’s position on the war, there is no question that this was stunningly brave in the face of fire, and a terrible tragedy. So long was have soldiers in Iraq, this is is played out every day, and another family in America has to watch the military officer walk up to their door, knowing why he’s there and knowing that the news he carries is the worst finality.
The guy on the left definitely died bravely and with great honor. There may be no more honorable death than to meet it while rescuing your brother in arms.
I have 7 family members who are either active duty military, retired, or honorably discharged. Every one of them is oppossed to the war in Iraq. And every one would have gone there/ will go there willingly if they are sent. That’s what you do when you sign those papers. And I can only hope that if they are wounded, there is someone of this man’s caliber to rush in to help them.

Um, Major – what does Iraq have to do with terrorism? I know they’re all kinda brown, and hell, Osama is brown too, so I guess they must all be in cahoots, huh?
Or… could it be that George Dubya and his cronies have invaded Iraq – illegally, might I add – in order to seize control of one of the world’s biggest supplies of oil?
Don’t get me wrong, it is sad to see soldiers dying in battle – although ramrod’s comment that that’s what soldiers have to expect when they sign up to fight does hold some water, however crudely he put it – but please don’t swallow the Bush administration’s crap about their campaign there being to ensure American security, at home or abroad.
I mean, just how many Iraqi-sponsored acts of terrorism have there been on US soil since, um, ever? Oh, that’s right, none.

Americarules, just take a second to read back what you have written. Is that even English? Is Iraq a person? Why would a secular despot like Saddam Hussein want anything to do with a religious zealot like Osama bin Laden, and vice versa? It’s plain to see your grasp of the facts is second to none.
And Mike, I think images such as these are intrinsically tied to the issues I mentioned in my previous post. Not for a second am I suggesting that it is not sad to see people dying in battle – Iraqis and Americans alike. And it is moving to see a level of dedication and devotion to your comrades that would impel a marine to risk his own life to save another’s. But the sad fact is that these unfortunate pawns would not be coming home in planeloads of boxes for their sobbing families to bury if it weren’t for Bush, Blair and their ilk. These men’s blood is on their hands. Shame on them.

Well war does suck and that is what he gets for going, fighting for the country to protect from terrorism eh? That sure worked when both my parents died in the WTCs. In my opinion this country sucks, the only reason I am here is because most countries suck more, and its really easy to live when the government pays for everything. People who to go marines, or army, or anything like that are not the kind of people who have a future. They are the ones that are scared to live alone, without help of anyone. They need someone to give them food, shelter, and a feeling of security. The camera man was doing his job. I wouldn;t have picked up a gun because I would have probably hurt myself.

Argue about the war all you want, but no matter what you do, you aren’t going to make a difference. Bitching at each other over the internet gets nothing accomplished.
I hope that you Bush and Anti-Bush people realize that both sides are lying and full of shit. Just because you accuse the other side of lying doesn’t make you righteous or any less of a liar.
Where do I stand, you ask? Yea, I’m a Bush supporter. You know why? Because he’s the president right now, and he’s pretty much all we’ve got to go on. I also support our men and women overseas. Even though I wish they didn’t have to be over there, it’s their decision. I hope you people have realized that people SIGN-UP for the military. There is no draft (I don’t want to hear about how their ‘could’ be a draft in the future.) My point is that these brave men and women chose to be a part of the military.
Hardeep: Do you even know who the ‘other guy’ was? If you don’t live in America, please, shut the fuck up, and do it quick. I doubt you even know what each of the candidates believed in (or said they believed in) while campaigning. Let me give you some homework: find out who the ‘other guy’ was and tell me his name. No, it’s not hard to do at all. But if you’re too ignorant to know who Bush’s opponent was in the presidential election, then you aren’t entitled to an opinion.
Now, back on topic: I hate seeing stuff like this because you know this isn’t the only casualty.

For those of you wondering why the camerman did nothing…Uhm, because he part of the press? See, theres this thing called non-combantants, called “war photographers”. They aren’t armed, they have body armor and a camera. The rest of the Marines that you don’t see (are some of you really that fucking stupid to think that there would be a three man patrol in the heart of Falluja? Jesus some people need to stop watching Rambo), are most likley trying to return fire to the sniper or calling in an airstrike, so they don’t lose another man trying to save the ones that already went down. Honestly what do you think the camera man would do? To the dude that said “maybe if the camera man picked up a gun things would have turned out different”. Yes, maybe things would have turned out differently, an un-trained man in combat surely will change the tide of the battle. This isn’t a video game, kiddies, you rarely see your enemy in combat. One shot kills, and killing even 6 insurgents in one day is considered a remarkble feat. Espcially in the urban enviroment, the shooter could have been in literally thousands of different places. Some of you are living in a very delusional world.

this picture shows but one of the many atrocities of war… how would you react if a foreign superpower of a different race, religion and political beliefs invaded your country, dethroned your ruler, all just to tell you what you want (democracy)? oh, i almost forgot why the US went to iraq in the first place… what was it again? oh yeah! WMD! funny how those never turned up.
if you want to focus your blame somewhere, try the pentagon and your loyal president bush. those are the real enemy. instead of sending young americans to die for a good cause, they are stuck in this hellhole of a place fighting for god knows what. even the soldiers themselves are skeptical.
dont believe this as an unpatriotic belief on the soldiers part. the bush administration and the CIA are at fault for this pointless war that has resulted in needless death. who ASKED the US to help? did the US need to go in?

I like how non-US citizens think they know everything about the US and its people. You can’t believe everything you’re spoonfed from the news. Half of America is against the war and/or opposes Bush. We’re not the only country that has had its bad share of leaders. Remember that. The truth of the matter is there’s stupid people in every country. Even yours. For example, I play a lot of online games and I can’t count how many times I’ve seen a European cast the first stone and trash-talk America or an American for no apparent reason other than to be an asshole. What makes you so much better when you act as foolish as you make us out to be? Now I’m not saying Europeans are bad. I have nothing against them. There’s only good people and bad people in my book, and maybe a little in between. Country doesn’t matter and that’s what you idiots don’t realize. I’m not shallow enough to judge an entire country based on the stupid people that live there. Yet it seems this is what a lot of you do. You see things on TV or read things in the newspapers about what another country is doing and automatically assume they all feel that way or believe the same thing. That in itself is foolish and I suggest you get an education before you speak about a country you’ve probably never stepped foot in. Flaming each other’s countries is one of the most childish things I can think of and you really show your lack of education when you do so. There’s nothing wrong with America, Canada, Australia, Europe, or any other civilized nation for that matter, except for the stupid people that live in each of them. Deep down you know I’m right.
On a final note, death is a sad thing to witness, no matter the cause. Have some fucking respect for the dead.

Hey man, Most americans dont know jackshit bout anything going on outside the us. Andt talking about beeing spoonfed, whats the real reason America goes to war? To play world police, show it that America is the biggest and strongest? Americans are nonchalant, ignorant and smallminded. Of course not everybody, but the majority of Americans are stupid, undereducated, under-the-average humans. And of course death is tragic, but it is you who trained and supplied most of them towelheads anyway. America is only in it for the black blood, OIL.

No military personnel are in Iraq involuntarily. They know what is going on, and if they agree to travel there and take part in a brutal war that capitalizes on American ignorance, then so be it. I would prefer the guilty party be punished rather than the innocent. If the roles were reversed, I sure would protect my self/family/country from such extremely violent occupiers. You would as well. The idea that we should support Bush simply because he is president is akin to saying that the Germans should have simply supported Hitler because he was their leader. If you see something wrong, try to fix the problem. Because of the lies and greed wrought by this administration the people in this series died.
Iraq had nothing to do with terrorism until we showed up there and the people became “terrorists” in order to fight us on their own turf.
It’s oil, it’s lies, it’s greed, and because of Bush’s insistence on speaking in Christian terminology in everything he does, they have come to believe that this is a religious war.

When I first found this thread I was angered at some of the comments made. Take for instance Ryan, and Pete.
I pondered some of the coments to great length. to the point where I tried to identify with the writer. I went and put on a pair of my wifes high heels, and a tie died shirt. This seemed to help! All their thoughts which seemed so ignorant before suddenly made sence.
I quickly snapped back to reality when the phone rang, and I noticed I was talking with a lisp to a good freind (he hung up).
Now I am back to being a red blooded venison eating American. Thank God. Yes hippie I said God.
Pete and Ryan, are living in a world that has been protected almost soley by American blood. Generations of Americans have been nearly wiped out to keep French Brittish, and other limp wristed countries speaking their native tounges. Oh yes you could be speaking German, or Japenese right now.
Pete, I am well aware that Marines, and soldiers die in war. I know this first hand.
I ask nothing from you or your liberal freinds. I want nothing in the way of sympathy or thanks. I would be just as willing to invade any country on this earth as I was with Iraq.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of WAR!

To those that ask “why didn’t the photographer do anything?” He didn’t do anything because his job was to take pictures, to record what was happening. Just as it is the job of the medics to bandage wounded, or Engineers to fix the trucks. Just because you or anyone else is being shot at dosen’t mean you drop what you’re supposed to do and go rambo. You do what you are ment to do, not what is heroic. Heroism, while commendable, is what gets a platoon killed.

After reading some of the comments on this threat, it makes you want to laugh out loud. I have never seen such a bunch of uneducated , chickenshit , wimps in my life time. These people would be a good reason to reinstate the draft and give them a good education in reality. A soldier goes where he is ordered and he fights for his country, no matter who the enemy is. This has to be a bunch of Liberal kids , still in High School , with no idea what the real world is all about. My advice to the people who are posting the above comments is study history and quit watching to many movies. What hollywood puts out and the real world are two totaly different things. Join the Military or go out and get a job and then you may have earned the right to put down our country and our Armed Forces, MAYBE.

While you were busy baa-ing to the latest American Idol, your handlers were setting up our “Republic†for it’s great fall. Great, you died for our country - actually, you died for the global elite, who refer to ALL of you as USELESS EATERS. So, all you ‘tough as nails’ Marines, etc. who go on Rah Rah-ing about how you saved us civillian pussies, remember this: When you die in a worthless battle, your family will get a pretty flag, and the elite will continue with their cocktails. When you’re REALLY ready to defend this country, I suggest you start by going after the ‘insurgents’ in our Congress, Senate, and the White House. Until then, enjoy the blood and sand you are so rightfully fighting for, and when you come back, we can take your benefits away, and we’ll see how patriotic you are…

what a tragedy, our military is the finest, yet they’re being thrown away for corporate gain.
No soldier ever wastes his or her life. The perform with integrity, die for freedom. It is our leaders who disgrace the flag.
15 year veteran, including a tour in Vietnam while in the army. I have put myself in harms way many times, trusting our countries leaders, it grieves me to see our leaders betray our troops like this.
I believe in a strong miliitary, but it must be used wisely. God bless our brave men and women
Support them, choose more wisely in the next election.

america is paying for their actions of the past.dont like to see terrorism but dont like either the way americans try to resolve their “foreign” problems.more will die for sure…americans of course.no way i would figth that war.no way.if u think that u r in control…better think twice.i like the usa, i ilke europe, but world leaders must think real hard in the consequences of their present actions, and how past solutions willl afect the future.is oil more important then life?this is not a “war against terrorism”.no way…

What’s with all the negative comments? I don’t think this is intended to say anything about the war in iraq, rather it’s intended to show the bravery of the soldiers.
Btw typing in l33tspeak just makes you look stupid.

Disgusting. I have 2 words for everyone that’s even read any of the comments that had even a derogatory word to say: Genocide & Terrorism. Both were occurring in Iraq. No other nation in this world would have the balls to step up and help another nation the way we are helping Iraq. Mass graves of woman and children have been found in Iraq and whether Iraq was helping or participating in terrorist actions does not matter. It has already been proven that terrorist camps existed in Iraq. Fodasse I’ll make my return simple. Since the Iraq conflict has begun oil prices have gone up. If we’re there for oil or you actually believe we are you need to seriously read up on the news. Whether you agree why we are there or not have some sympathy for people that are dying. Learn fucking english btw fodasse because you had all of three words used or spelled correctly in your entire posting. When you say its not a war against terrorism, you might be right, it might be a war against somoene who was once a totalitarian leader that slaughtered and tortured the people of his nation. We’d be living in a real different world if the United States and Great Britain didn’t fight back against Hitler. I bet half the people that have posted on this subject live in nations that only exist through the generosity of the United States and Great Britain. If my country and my taxes make where you live a better place you can stfu. I work hard everyday of the week so that I can have my government send foreign relief and all type of other type of support to other nations. I’m not mad that we do it, just makes me want to blow your entire country off the map when your so ungrateful for the sacrifices the United States of America makes to try and help.

To anyone that has ever served in the military for the United States: God bless you and your service. The people of our country can never thank you enough. God bless you.

It’s a shame someone has to die so people begin to think, but the again they were americans, not people. Americans put a monetray value in evertything, so basically they lost a twenty thousand dollars there, but save two salaries, so it makes sense…

i like how some people say “those people are dying for smoething they believe in, how can you say such terrible things about them?!” but what about the terrorists who flew the planes into the towers, were they not dying for something they believed in? but we all find it so terrible and fucked up…
