April over at “for better or for worse” podcasted on South Dakota’s ban on abortions. I’m pro-life, but I don’t try to change people’s view on it. But I do however love to say what is on my mind.

Abortions will always be something that divide our country and it probably won’t get any easier as time passes and now that South Dakota has boldly made a move on the board, I can’t wait to see how the Supreme Court will respond. I’m pro-life. Apart from my relationship to God, I feel that if something’s “cons” out weight its “pros” then it shouldn’t be done.
Breast Cancer. It something that haunts not only American women, but women all around the world. What is a women’s chance of getting breast cancer at the age of 45? Getting an abortion, raise that number by 50%. Do you have a family history of breast cancer? If yes, then the percent is gone and replaced with a “guaranteed” and just count on it. Don’t get me wrong, it is your body, but I am going to ask you one question, why run that risk? Not to mention all the other complications that are very likey to happen.

“What we need, to lower abortion, is a substitute for abortion. Attacking the supply side won’t do much to lower abortion rates, but attacking the demand side can work. For instance, policies which push birth control on teenagers (including the importance of always using two types at once) so hard the teens get bruised. Countries like Belgium have used this sort of policy to have the lowest abortion rates in the world. I don’t understand why pro-lifers have so little interest in imitating that.”

As for those who are choice due to the overwhelming freedom we have, anti-choice isn’t the right word. I’m for life, but I am not against choices. If people want to destroy their unborn child, they are going to do it reguardless if its legal or not. I’d just rather them not have to face that dilema all together. Alternatives are present and we need to preach them to ad nauseam. We can stop the issues beforehand and educate, we can stop the unwanted pregnancies. Just a thought.
Now that South Dakota has made its stand, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee have also shown their side on abortion with similar bills against abortions. Now, we wait. With Sandra Day O’Connor gone, and Samuel Alito up on the bench, we wait.
