Outside my girlfriend’s house, I look below and I see a dog. He is wagging his tail because his owner is home. Near is the car making it’s final movements right before parking. The owner emerges from the car and moves to the gate, opens it and enters his yard. The dog moves back as he enters but is always keeping his eyes and head towards the owner. As the owner moves closer to the door, the dog keeps his body on the side of the owner, but the head and eyes never move away from his master. The owner stops midway to the door and looks at the dog. The dog then sits, hesitates, then stands up again. I thought the owner was going to pat his best friend but instead he moves to the door, opens it and moves inside. Before he closes the door, he takes one last look at the dog which is standing outside still looking into the eyes of his master. The door closes and the dog turns away and circles into a spot and lays down. For some reason this moment did so much for me. Calmness. Tranquility. Its good to be home.
