So another typhoon is coming towards Okinawa and I couldn’t be happier! I ain’t going to put up a front and act like I don’t love when training is canceled and I get to sit in my room all day. FREAK YEA I LIKE DAYS OFF! Are you kidding me? That is probably one of the best things about Okinawa is the great weather. Nothing like paid days off.
Yea, but we are suppose to do all this hooky “stay in the jungle” training and I am just not feeling it on account of we just spent a week out there. Now we have to go back? Screw that. I’m freaking tired of doing nothing all day. We spend the first half of the day in classes and the next half just sitting around waiting to be let loose. I guess the only way I can put it so you guys can understand is this way…
Imagine you went to a doctor’s office and got a check-up. He said everything is fine but he needs to give you this paperwork so you can leave. He leaves the office and leaves you alone in the room. He doesn’t return until 45 min later and even then he says something along the lines of “Ok, we’ll we are done here, lemme just get this filled out and send it off and your good. Please wait while I go do this form and get you out of here.” Then he doesn’t return for like 30 min.
Lame huh? Well do that, ten-fold. We waited around from 1300 ( 1 pm ) til 1800 ( 6 pm ) doing NOTHING. GOSH! Just let us go!!! Yea, but thats all included in the package of being a Marine here. Hurry up and wait. Our great motto. But back to the topic at hand…
The typhoon, Typhoon Saoma, is suppose to hit us pretty good. I hope it does but not because I want people hurt, or because I want buildings damaged, unless they are Marine Corps buildings. I hear it hits at midnight but Hiromi says it hits around tommarow morning. I trust her alot more then I trust these people so I am praying for tommarow and for it to last 5 days or any lengh to put a dent in our training. Now, understand, its not that I don’t want our unit to be ready, but I just want to REST for a few days. We haven’t done that in awhile. The winds are picking up and I smell rain coming. Its clear outside, but I ain’t worried, Hiromi is never wrong. Okinawans know their storms!
