Just got back from watching the movie World Trade Center and man, it was good. I liked the cast which included Nicolas Cage and Michael Pena. Pena is from Crash and Million Dollar Baby if you don’t know and I think he did an excellent job as a co-star. I usually don’t go see movies at the base theatre because of the way Marines act during any kind of movies and tonight was no different. It was pretty full at the theatre too, but that didn’t bother me.
The movie is about two Port Authority Police Officers who get trapped inside the rubble of the World Trade Center after it collapses. Their names are Will Jimeno and John McLoughlin. The movie showed the collapse a bit early and I was thinking in my mind how they were going to drag out the rescue for two more hours but they did an excellent job. The way they showed the emotion behind the families was real touching and really put into view of what the wives of those two officers went through.
Something that I found out from a friend about the Marine in the movie, he was actully black, not white. In the movie, actully, I should just say, when the Towers fell, a Marine was present who was just visiting. He quickly put on his uniform, even though being out for a year from the Marine Corps, and then ran to the center of the Towers. Him and another Marine were the two people to see and save the final survivors of the 20 that got saved from the ashes and rubble. Pretty amazing stuff.
It is said that every American should see this movie and I have to agree. This was a story of survival and of great courage. I am getting the DVD as soon as it comes out to add to my collection because stories like this, you can’t go without. Again, I don’t see this as a movie, I see it as a true great story.

Ugh, it’s so hard for me to want to see this one. I don’t want to be reminded of how horrible that incident was. I know, this part of me is being a chicken-sh#t.

Well, the time goes by, but some things stay in your mind forever. Actually, I think its worth to see it not only because of Nicolas Cage (I am a fan of him) but also not to forget it may happens to every of us.
