With the ship in the rear view mirror and my career as a Marine coming to a close I have a feeling I’ll have a lot of free time once I get out. Worried that I might have a problem with being a sloth sitting on a couch watching Japanese TV for countless hours, I bought a few things that I hope will keep my mind occupied in the coming months of relaxation.

I bought a couple of new books to pass the time and do a bit of research on my favorite subjects. Although I am still in the middle of both The Tipping Point and Che Guevara on Global Justice, the new shipment of books looks too good to just let sit for another few weeks. The list reads as:

The Medusa File – This book was recommended by my good friend Lucien and he told me it’s a must read for learning about the conspiracies and little known operations that the government has done in the past 50 years.
The Battle Of Okinawa – This is a great narrative done by actual participants of the Okinawa Battle. I read it was the most detailed so I couldn’t pass this up for a nice history lesson.
Women Of Okinawa – With the US occupation of Okinawa, I wanted to read about how the Women were affected seeing as so much controversial talk about how women were used and exploited by both the Americans and the Japanese. Nine women share their story. I can’t wait to get to this book.
Okinawa 1945 – This talks about the battle in a more military mindset giving me first hand knowledge on what moves were made by the US and Japanese during the battles for Okinawa.
Okinawa: The History Of The Island People – This is a huge reference book with the history and information I want in a very comprehensive manor. I was told it would be a good read as a scholar.
On Combat – This former Army Ranger, LtCol Dave Grossman, came to give a small speech to us about how killing affects us. This book deals with combat and what it does to us as warriors. The cover reads “The psychology and physiology of deadly conflict in war,”
On Killing – Written by the same former Ranger, this deals more with how killing affects us. To take someone’s life isn’t natural into today’s society as it was back in the early times of human history. The reviews make this book sound interesting so I bought both of them.

Besides the reading that’s going to be happening, I also bought a microphone and mixer so as soon as I get the right wires and set-up I’ll be podcasting it up. Hopefully this will consume enough of my free time so that I won’t get creative. Speaking of that, I plan on redesigning my website. I might have to drop jQuery but we’ll see what pops into my mind. I’m thinking,,,,single column. Yea? Ok, holla!
