The following is an order that the Commandant Of The Marine Corps issued out to every single leader in the Corps.

If you don’t understand I’ll break it down for you. Every Marine joins the Corps knowing that they will deploy to Iraq. Sometimes it’s our reason for joining, but that isn’t always the case. Either way, we join knowing we are going to war but sometimes we don’t get that chance. Something comes up and our name isn’t on the list or perhaps we are in work sections too small to let someone go due to their own readiness being put at risk minus that Marine.
Now, with this new order it doesn’t matter what it takes, every Marine in the Corps today will at one time go to Iraq if their contact allows. Leaders are now informed to encourage and push for Marines who haven’t been to open a chance to go. If you have at least a year and two months left on your contact in the Marine Corps, they are looking for you.
When I first joined the Marine Corps, the only thing in my mind about where I was going was IRAQ. I wanted to go there like it was the spot in the entire world. I missed my first opportunity but when I came to Japan I caught a break and off I was. Of course there was several people who wanted to go but then I met a group of Marines who didn’t want to go. They got put on the list unwillingly. I think it has to do with how you are sent, the terms and conditions. Some units send their good Marines, giving them a reward, deployment. Others will send their shitty troublesome Marines to get rid of them leaving the section in the rear shit-free.
Looks like the playing field just got a bit more even. Hum,I wonder if this has anything to do with the 20,000 troop surge coming up. Hopefully it cuts down the stress on those Marines who have been 2 or 3 times in just 4 years.

I’m not in the military as you know but that sounds damn fair to me.
