I was like a kid in the candy store. Happy as hell when we sat down and got ready to sign up for the Yahoo BB service. I couldn’t wait to test out the download speed and the upload speed. It is suppose to be one of the fastest connections around here in Okinawa, Japan. Without even looking at the speed chart, I told the lady I wanted the fastest connection. 50 Mbps is the fastest they had so we signed up for it. She told me due to the location of the server, we are about 3 Km from it so the speed might actually be cut in half. 25 Mbps? Whoop! I can live with that!
I had to wait two weeks. Two LONG weeks for the modem and phone line to be activated. What a long two weeks. The day finally came, and I requested 7 days off of work so I can FULLY enjoy the wonderful speeds of this ADSL. I even bought a new computer so I could install debian from the net install without much wait.
It is now day 3 with the service installed and I haven’t had 1 kb pass though the modem. For some reason, we aren’t getting any link connection to the server. We called and they told us to wait perhaps 1 day so that we can allow NTT, the phone company, to let the phone line travel though it’s network. So I waited 1 day. 24 hours later, I tried it again and no luck. I read on a website which has been VERY, VERY helpful with giving me information to combat the problem of no-connectivity that it could be a NUMBER of problems and that isn’t rare. Fucking great. We called them back and said it wasn’t working so now they are going to send us a new modem to see if that is the problem. I asked my fiancĂ©, Hiromi, if the person bringing the new modem was a staff worker from the BB place so I could knock him out if he doesn’t fix it. She said it is going to be a mail man. Damn…can’t kill the messenger. So tomorrow a new modem will arrive and I am thinking the problem will still be here. If this is true, a lot of angry words will be coming to one poor Yahoo BB staff member who answers my phone call. Poor staff….
So my great re-design is still on hold. Although I have been posting those links, they came all in the span of two days because those are all links I have been saving for when my site gets up and working. Frustrated, I just put up this page until I get my internet connection FIXED so I can put the back-up’d database back up. So no linux, no database restore, no counter-strike ghosting, no security reconnaissance, no nothing. FUCK! I want my damn internet line to WORK!

And it really must suck to have 7 days off, and the internet doesn’t work. Sheesh.

since moving to new address YBB cuts off and on every 5 min
if theres a download or video stream forget about it
I freaking hate YBB fuckers selling there expensive package
without checking whether it works in the area or not
gettin heated up now hearing others with same concerns
pretty apt time to say, Damn in my home country they generally
dont make you pay for no service or shitass quality service
but since they give you 2 months free, its ok not to work
what the operator says and whats more theyre all there
to help out in English to sign up but the tech support is
Japanese only and they refer me to there, I would change
to NTT but all my friends are YBB and its free to talk
they best get there shit together or I’m gonna shove there
fucking modem down their throat

I’m telling ya, NTT is the way to go. I’ve used them before I got OCN and they NEVER gave me trouble. A bit pricey, but worth it to not have any problems. YahooBB is horrible for us gajins. Good luck though CVD!

I have used Yahoo BBs 50Mbps for one year now and i started with the same problems as you (too far away from the server or there are too many power lines around my mansion… whatever) anyway as of tomorrow thursday the 21st this will be the 5th modem that Yahoo BB has sent me.
Don’t waste your time with them. two weeks isn’s such a long wait, initially i had to wait one month for them to set it up last year. after the first two modems didn’t work they sent me what they call a “reach modem”. It actually worked pretty well until i bought a router and tried to connect it or when i wanted to move the modem to a different location in my mansion. If they send you a “reach modem” set it up in one place and don’t fuck with it. each time i unplug anything i have to call Yahoo BB for them to reset my signal and if that doesn’t work then they send me a new modem.
All of this wouldn’t be such a huge problem except that they keep telling me to call back with a Japanese friend, so be extremely happy that your fiance is Japanese.
